Colleges in Karnataka to reopen from October, online classes from Sept 1

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network

Bengaluru, Aug 26: Finally, the colleges in Karnataka are set to reopen from October. But online classes for college students will commence from September 1.

Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister Dr C N Ashwatha Narayan, who is also the minister for Higher Education, in Bengaluru on Wednesday announced the schedule for commencement for the academic year 2020-21 for various degree courses.

Speaking to reporters after the inauguration of various development works in Subramanya Nagar of Ward No. 66 in Bengaluru, he said that the department is awaiting guidelines from the central government on conducting offline classes as well as the few degree exams to be conducted in September.

Therefore, he said the State Government has decided to get the ball rolling on all academic activities online from next month. In addition, all colleges will start in October and students are expected to physically attend the classes.

The State Government has already made comprehensive preparations for starting offline classes following the guidelines set by the UGC.

Dr Narayan said the State Government will additionally follow the directions from the Central Government as they come.

Final Year Examinations

Along with the commencement of the academic year, final year examinations will be scheduled for all the undergraduate, diploma and engineering students.

Additionally, exams for those students who hold backlogs will also be conducted. These decisions have been taken in the sole interest of the students to ensure their bright future, the Deputy Chief Minister said.

NEET Exam

The State Government has successfully conducted the CET for more than 1.94 lakh students. In addition, 63 COVID Positive students have also achieved good ranks by confidently taking the exam.

“When the reality is so conducive, I do not understand why people are opposing the NEET from being conducted. I would like to advise all of them that they should not play with the future of the children. I suspect that there is something fishy about the issue,’’ he asserted.

He wondered if certain invisible groups want seats allocated through an opaque 'system' rather than on the basis of merit.

Some vested interests have been trying to disrupt the NEET examination since the beginning. There is a huge ecosystem behind it with efforts going on for many years now.

"However, their objectives will remain unfulfilled,’’ he claimed.

Dr Narayana said that the NEET needs to be conducted as it is a well-structured exam which allows students to take up admissions throughout the country with just one test.

There is certainly malice involved in the widespread opposition to NEET but the state government stands well-prepared for the test and will conduct it smoothly, he said.

    Respected Education Minister,
I would like to say that we need to first about whether we will be alive or not. If we are all alive only we can have our degrees.

If you can provide internet facilities to the students who can study online it would be good.

    Think of conducting exams online.
Or Give Assignment or projects which gives the same marks value like the exam.
Pass all of them with past semesters mark s

We don't want to die soon.

    This is a humble request.
    Please reconsider the decision.

Sir we students also are worried regarding our health , it would be an easy step for the Govt. to reopen the college, but why dont you all think about the safety precautions. By reopening college's during pandemic will conclude in huge amount of +ve cases. It is not at all safe because students have to travel to their college's by means of bus transportation also wherein there will be a lot of strangers and also the buses would be fully crowded, in such situations how can a person maintain social distancing...... when the Govt. decides to reopen schools and college's there a huge question mark in the mind's of students as well as the parents whether to send their children to school/college, and also "WHETHER THEY ARE SAFE?".....

Good decision. Corona will continue for 2 more years as WHO said. Already 6 months lapsed without academic activities. Majority of parents and students are also willing to restart the colleges.schools and till PUC can wait for 2 more month. But degree college students are are adults and mature enough to understand and handle the situation.
It’s more important especially for medical colleg students. If it doesn’t start by September they will loose 6 months in long run for sure. Moreover medical students must be able to handle better than others as the medical facilities are available in the campus itself. . A calculated risk has to be taken before it is too late. Only in US it went out of control for sometime but things are coming back to normal there as well. Further death Rate very low in India and recovery rate is fast enough

    Good decision

You are right, & even the US claim in sudden spike is fake, vigilante group had predicted the fake pandemic creators starting this to seal down the schools to prevent them restarting the economy & they are backers of left oriented Democratic Party there who want ballot votes to win the next presidential election. They want status quo & fear psychosis to prevent voters from casting their votes personally so they can rig the election.

Get the real facts & data they are not my imagination or fake data that got created all these months which got busted by eminent doctors & scientists who are in the know of all these fake pandemic.
All the data I quoted are from USA -CDC, get the links from reliable sources before jumping to conclusion & rubbishing any comments without evidence which proves more people are still in dark & always get carried away by fake data as well as propaganda by paid media as truth, this is the tragedy of not only our nation but most of the nations which fell for Gates & WHO trap knowingly or not knowingly.

I dont see any such figures. It was just your estimates from the news that you read on the internet. You quoted from cdc, where trump thinks so delusionally , made wearing a mask an option , kept on ignoring what health depts told him to implement . And you where also telling how usa started schools and colleges. Do you know what was the reason? Not because the medical facts stated that its safe , but he just wanted the economy to continue back to normal. He is more worried about winning the elections than the welfare of the people. Still your comments are just too vague and need reliable sources to strengthen your argument , cause what your saying is just mere statements.

Just because you are incapable of finding the links you would like to believe it doesn't exist?
There are enough data released by US - CDC, go to their site & get satisfied instead of believing fake data you daily see on TV channels.
Now coming to the figures that are projected by WHO which later agreed they thought it was tiger, but now lowered it to the level of wild cat too you are ignorant about? You better change the source of getting real facts rather than relying on fake data getting produced to fool people.
The scientists & doctors from all over the world who had treated those with this have come out in the open & have exposed this hoax. Get CDC guidelines implemented by all countries to label any deaths as covid, then only you can see the truth.. At the least you can follow Dr Rajus Healthy India channel before arriving at your own wisdom!
Get data from all countries of last 3 years or more that proves death rate has remained the same & not increased by this labeling act. And Eureka now deaths due to heart attack, kidney & liver failure, cancer have almost become nil which all the health care industries & modern medicine was unable to achieve all these years within 5 months!
And finally don't take cover behind any name or no name at all.

What's wrong with the ministers? Why do you give statement as if no blood in the heart? Why are you behind innocent students? Many of the school/colleges have taken the fees. On line Classes have started long back. Why can't you continue with the same procedure till December or till pandemic is under like you all said in the past... Hospitals are getting less patients?? Utter foolishness...hold on... Wait...

Insane decision taken to risk life of our children. Same was done in US and quickly revoked. Who ever supports this has no loving children of his own to sacrifice. Education can take a chance for one year but human life cannot take such chances. By the time these stupid idiots realize some children will loose their life. Even if the mortality rate is low every single life of a child is precious to place it for willful sacrifice to attain so called heard immunity. If those who push these ideologies loose their little loved ones only then they will be enlightened to realize the pain of loosing. When it is instructing others words of wisdom flow as it never matters.

Finally a decision towards beginning of academic year.
It could've been started from September itself as all the evidence from those countries which were open shows youngsters are least likely to get infection or to transmit or take it back home.
Media & ministers should now focus to dispel any myths and fears people got all these months about this epidemic which hardly falls in the bracket of pandemic with its mortality rate that is below than that of influenza epidemic of every season.
Going overboard with strict laws or guidelines about either masks, sanitizers, or any social distancing too should be stopped & let normalcy to return with immediate effect.
According to new survey 50% of the people who got tested for immunity in India has it which means around 60+ crores people have had the infection in the past & we are approaching herd immunity which is a good news to say goodbye to this hoax of pandemic.

I prefer you to stop stating false figures and misleading information. And even if we get it , it doesnt mean we take it lightly . We have family members who have health conditions and are vulnerable to the virus. When you complain about the current protocols of wearing a mask , and applying sanitizers it can be clearly understood hoe selfish you are . You might think you will be able to fight off the virus , good on you . There are so many out there who can succumb to the virus. We have become so selfish that we have stopped thinking about others. Mature and grow up.

Looks like Government is not bothered for more infections though they are failed in providing Health Infrastructure. If Colleges reopens in October, infections will sharply rise. Travelling will be a big concern. How Government expects village students to travel for 1-2 hours to reach their college in rush hours? I am still not understanding why the same Government who is in hurry to reopen colleges never stopped the telephonic message ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದ್ದರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಮನೆಯ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ .......etc...
