Puttur: 'Legal options being considered for carefree travel to Kerala' - Nalin

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Aug 28: MP and state BJP president, Nalin Kumar Kateel, said that the Karnataka government is following legal measures to make Kerala borders free for travel in and out of that state.

Speaking to media persons, he said that Karnataka had sealed its borders in the past to regulate spread of coronavirus infection in the district as a large number of patients were travelling to Mangaluru from Kerala. Thereafter, Kerala government closed its orders, which made the lives of commuters who were deprived of their earnings, harder. Now, even after the central government paved way for free travel, restrictions and confusions have continued, and efforts are being made to sort out these issues, he stated.

He said that the state government and district administration have been efficiently handling the coronavirus situation. He advised people not to be panicky about the disease but to be careful and take precautions.

Now, the number of people leaving for Mangaluru and returning to Kasargod from there on January 27 has been calculated at 1,200. People visiting Kerala now have to register in the COVID-19 awareness portal and undergo antigen test at the check posts.

In the meantime, BJP Kasargod district president, K Srikanth, said that the district administration of Kasargod appears to be making a mockery of the high court judgement by placing restrictions against court order to undergo antigen test, hold Covid negative certificate, and register in a portal. Addressing a press conference at Kasargod on Thursday August 27, he asked the state to pave way for free travel like the conditions prevailing before clamping of the lockdown. He warned that if the needful is not done within three days, the BJP will launch a strong protest.

It's so simple to underatand. For the sake of jobs, people in Kerala border want to come to Mangalore. Nalin is trying to help them and not for penny investment. No harm or loss to DK people if borders are closed.

as long corona status of KL is mired in suppression / misinformation / lack of information/ planted information, "carefree travel" may be difficult... God only knows treality of Covid in so called Godsown Country...

If one followed covid news of this state, so many twists and turns, u-turns, conflicting reports, self-praise, blowing own trumpet etc. etc. Even Central government not happy in this regard...

Rightly said by you Kbr sir. Manjeshwar is accusing mangaluru for the increase of covid patients there in k/k. As soon as the news published about finding covid patient in padil, all the borders connecting to mangaluru closed by them which were opened by themselves through court. They were boasting that their chief minister arranged so many flights to bring back their people. As per the information, those who came from abroad never isolated and strictly not were in quarantine unlike our Mangaluru. Hence, corona spreaded more there. They were visiting the markets /relatives /friends so in. When the borders were closed was there any chance for keralites to get infected? Let Manjeshwar stop his people spending in Mangaluru and let him see that they wiil earn there and let them spend there. NO ONE DOES ANY FAVOUR FOR US WITHINOUT ANY PROFIT... l

FYI, spread of corona virus in Kasaragod was due to people travelled from Other states to Kasaragod. I am not blaming people from Mangalore for that. It is people of Kasaragod who travelled from other states to Kasaragod. No cases have been spread because of people who came from abroad. They were quarantined effectively. I don’t use the word strictly here. And from the number of cases and deaths you will know who let people roam around freely.
You might say to stop spending in Mangalore. you think hospitals, colleges, business establishments will say the same?? Because you will not be knowing the effect, only they will.

let these 1200 people decide where to live and earn livelihood instead daily loafing around 2 different states and societies... let them decide how to solve the problem rather than any one facilitating these floating creatures...

Nalin does not know that the first case identified was at Kerala. Why should people of DK suffer if people from Kerala come to Mangalore infected with covid 19? It is coming from Kerala with covid19 to KA19.

Tit for Tat seems to be the situation between Kerala and Karnataka. Yedurappa in March had evn stated opening borders to Kerala is like embracing Death.

Most of the deaths/covid cases in kasaragod has either travel history to Mangalore or has connection to people traveled to Mangalore. Karantaka Gov realized that they cannot control the pandemic anymore, so they have removed all restrictions. Now government is okay to have increasing number of deaths, they just want revenue. Kasaragod was the one of the first hotspots in India, Kasaragod administration took the case to "0" (with 0 death) before interstate permit was allowed. Now Kasaragod administration is bearing the hardship due to failure of others on containing virus. Now around 100 cases are reported daily in Kasaragod. This may shoot to 300-400 if all the restrictions are taken off. Keeping all this in mind DC is doing wonderful work by making arrangements for daily commutators for work. People with valid reasons are allowed to cross borders.
Those who say that people from Kasaragod come to Mangalore for earning, why they do not find job there. FYI, People from Kasaragod spend more in Mangalore than they earn from here.

Issue is defined in last two lines -

People are travelling for work because there are not enough jobs matching skills in Kasargod. Nobody likes to travel long hours for education or work or health care needs. It is failure of successive Kerala Govt in that case especially due to labour issues. Due to this they also have limited avenues for spending hence they come to Mangalore.

Else the number of people requiring to travel would have been drastically less.
