Wife of Gurugram policeman jumps to death

Gurugram, Sep 15 (IANS): The 36-year-old wife of a Haryana Police head constable allegedly died by suicide in Gurugram late on Monday night.

The deceased, identified as Chanchal, jumped off the seventh floor of a residential tower located in district police lines.

Chanchal originally hailed from Hansi in Hisar district of Haryana, the police said on Tuesday.

According to the police, head constable Rajesh Saini lives along with his family in Tower-C at the police lines and was posted at the Udyog Vihar police station.

Preliminary investigations suggest a family dispute could be the reason behind the extreme step.

"Family members of the couple were present in Gurugram to resolve the dispute between the couple on Monday night. Later, the woman stepped out towards Tower E and jumped off from the 7th floor and died on the spot, " said Gurugram Police spokesperson Subhash Boken.

On receiving the information, a team of Civil Lines police Station reached the spot and took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem.

The investigation team didn't recover any suicide note from the victim's possession. Rajesh had reportedly been absent from duty for two days.

"The case is being investigated. The body has been kept at the mortuary for the medical examination. The police have not received any complaint related with the matter," Boken said.
