Udupi, Sep 19: "Vishwakarma community is completely neglected by the government. We do not need much recognition but we need a political representative in the state. With that our community will strengthen. BJP government did not give expected facilities to Vishwakarma which we are expecting," said Neramballi Ramesh Acharya, leader Akhila Karnataka Vishwakarma Mahasabha (AKVM).

He was addressing a press meet held at Udupi press club here on Saturday, September 19. He alleged that the present state government led by BJP failed to fulfill the demands of the community like waiving off debts, package during lockdown, releasing funds to Vishwakarma development commission, employment to youths, forming schemes and in giving political power to the community.

BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel knew that most of the Vishwakarma people support BJP. Chief minister B S Yediyurappa promised that he would release Rs 1000 crore as special package by making KP Nanjundi as chief for the backward community. But he failed to keep his words. "He has given opportunity to make Nanjundi as MLC. How can it be possible to work on development without power? Where is justice?" he questioned.

He further said that, "We had high hopes on the BJP government but it did not provide any system to develop the community. There are many youth who have turned jobless in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. Politicians are using the community youth for their political gain in the name of caste, creed and religion. It is not promoting our community skills. We are very upset with government's stand. Let it provide jobs to youngsters."

State president of Akhila Karnataka Vishwakarma Mahasabha Malavalli Srinivas will be visiting the district on September 20 and 21 to meet the community leaders. He would discuss on strengthening the Vishwakarma society, said Ramesh Acharya.

Other leaders of AKVM Ramesh Acharya Hebri, Gangadhar Acharya Barkur, Ramakrishna Acharya Kota, Rajesh Acharya Byndoor and Sushanth Acharya were present.
