Mumbai, Apr 8: New office- bearers to Sri Durgaparameshwari Yakshagana Kala Mitra Mandali, Sakinaka were elected on the 44th annual general body meeting held at Durgaparameshwari temple premises here, recently.

Sudhakar B Poojary  was appointed as the honorary president, Nithyaprakash N Shetty as executive president, K K Devadiga as vice president, Ramesh Suvarna Kananjar as honorary secretary, Sadanand Nayak  as joint secretary, Prasad Shetty  as joint treasurer, Chandrahas Shetty  as treasurer and Rajesh Moily and Dayanand Rao as executives.

 Mohan Gujaran  was elected as the president of temple puja committee, Balachandra R Shetty  as secretary, Roopa R Shetty as vice president, Hema L Kotian as joint secretary, Suresh Shetty Marla as treasurer and Prashanth Poojary  as joint treasurer.

Sudhakar B Poojary, president of Mandali presided over the meeting. Speaking on the occasion he said that it is the committed efforts of all Yakshagana artistes, who have popularized the folk art of Tulunadu in the metro at a time when the heroic art of Yakshagana is threatened to go oblivion.

Mandali secretary Nithyaprakash N Shetty welcomed the gathering and Ramesh Kananjar presented the annual report. Ramesh Suvarna Kananjar proposed the vote of thanks.    
 
Sri Durgaparameshwari Yakshagana Kala Mitra Mandali has been staging Yakshagana plays with their versatile artistes across the metro.  Tulunadu folklore processions in various venues across the metro have been much appreciated by a large number of people.  It has the record of staging Yakshagana plays at Mookambika temple,  Shahad since the past three and a half decades.
