Bantwal, Sep 21: During the early morning hours of Sunday, September 20, a gang of three approached a petrol bunk that functions round the clock, and threatened the staff there. They succeeded in posing a death threat to the staff there and robbing Rs 22,000 in cash apart from two cellphones. The petrol bunk in question is stationed near Soorikumeru.
Two employees were at the bunk when the gang approached them. The three-member gang which arrived in a motorbike flashed a knife and iron road at the petrol bunk staff and threatened them to part with money. When the staff refused, the gang threatened to kill the employees. They then forcibly took away Rs 22,000 in cash and two mobile phones.
Such efforts were also made in several petrol bunks located at Bantwal and Mangaluru and there are CCTV records to prove them. Police sub-inspector Kalaimar visited the spot and registered the complaint.
