Mangaluru, Sep 21: "Opposition is diverting the minds of farmers and spreading misinformation over Agri Bill," said state BJP spokesperson Capt Ganesh Karnik over the recent stir created by the Opposition parties on the passing of the Agri Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
Addressing media here on Monday, September 21, Capt Ganesh Karnik said, "We condemn the actions of the Opposition of creating ruckus at sessions over the passing of the Farm Bills as they are trying to divert the minds of farmers and instigate them. The ordinances now cleared by Lok Sabha are vital in transforming the lives of farmers. Some misinformation is being spread by the Opposition about these bills."
"There were allegations of the MSP system being terminated. The system will continue in the same manner as it did earlier. Farmers can sell their produce on MSP. Mandis will not be abolished, the trade will continue there in the same manner as before," he said.
"Farmers will have complete freedom on contract. They will fix and sell at a price of their choice and money will be remitted to them within three days. The private investors have always had a doubt on excessive regulatory interference in running their business, this hurdle will be removed and will enable the investment in the agriculture sector. Farmers will no longer have fear pertaining to crop failure. Now a farmer will be more confident towards produce like onion and potato," said Ganesh Karnik.
"Awareness will be created in every district about the importance of the Agri Bill and pamphlets will be distributed regarding this. We have faith in our farmers that they will welcome this move," said Capt Ganesh Karnik.
Concerning MP Nalin Kumar Kateel's statement of providing sand at Rs 2,000 to every household, BJP district spokesperson Radhakrishna said, "We will soon introduce a new sand policy and will provide sand at Rs 2,000 per unit."
