Kalaburagi, Sep 24: Fr Stany Lobo, parish priest of St Mary Church, Kalaburagi in a press release dated September 24 has clarified that the allegations against Fr Clevan are false.
He stated that the false allegations against Fr Clevan in TV media and YouTube have made them sad. Therefore, they intend to explain the truth.
"Fr Vijay, the then priest of St Mary Church in Gulbarga had employed in June 2019, Mary’s husband William (50) to cook in the priest’s home. Though there were no disputes over the job, a woman named Asha began coming to work since the last six months. As two women coming to work in the priest’s home was objectionable, Fr Clevan, the new assistant priest who was appointed in June this year, opposed it. When his objections did not work, he complained to the bishop. The bishop immediately directed that Asha should be stopped from coming to work. When Fr Vijay asked Asha not to come to work, Mary joined Asha and created controversy against Fr Clevan with false allegations against Fr Clevan. They hurled expletives against the priest saying that they will auction his reputation. The opposition and protests continued from July 28 to August 13. As they did not relent even after offering them jobs elsewhere, they were both removed from work.

"Mary, who was annoyed because of it, went to the women's police station on August 14, and registered a case of harassment at her workplace. The name of Asha or the allegations was not found in the complaint. Police officials called the priest, enquired and took a written statement from him.
"Indecent posts in the name of Mary Antony have appeared on September 1, against the priest on Facebook. Cyber crime police have conducted investigations on them and taken legal action. When Cyber crime police summoned Asha later for enquiry on September 22, she reportedly tried to commit suicide in the premises of DC office.
“We are sad about these two women. Some unknown people are purposely misleading them. We urge the officials to find out the truth and punish the guilty. We promise complete cooperation in the investigations” said Fr Stany Lobo, parish priest, St Mary Church, Kalaburagi, in the press release.
