Udupi, Sep 26: “14 organizations in the district have supported the ‘Karnataka Bandh’ in the state on September 28. I am requesting people for voluntary participation from Saturday itself. The organization activists who have assured their support will be holding rallies in many places in the district,” said CPIM district secretary Balakrishna Shetty.

Speaking at a news conference held in the Muslim Welfare Association office, Udupi, today, he said "Congress Kisan unit, Karnataka Pranta Raita Sangha, Indian National Congress, Janata Dal-Secular, Dalit Sangharsha Samiti, Communist Party Marxwadi, Karnataka State Dalit Sangharsha Samiti, Sahabalve Udupi Sangharsha Samiti, Welfare Party of India, Udupi District Committee Muslim Okkoota, Karnataka Rashtra Samiti, Centre of Indian Trade Union, Bharathiya Christian Okoota and Ambedkar Yuva Sena have assured their support.

“Several farmers will lose their land. The land reforms act amendments are in favour of corporate companies. The entire farm Act amendments are anti-people,” he said.

“The union and state government have come forward to pass the amendments ignoring the opposition by farmers and opposition parties considering that the well being of corporate companies alone is important. I have requested the bus owner’s association also to support the bandh,” he said.

Various organization leaders Shashidhar Ermal, Shashidhar Golla, Kushal Shetty, Yogish Shetty, Sunder Master, Abdul Azeez Yasin Malpe, Vinuta Kiran, Kaviraj and others were present.
