Bantwal, Sep 29: The Social Democratic Party of India held a mock display and blocked the road at Melkar and Kalladka on September 29 over the damaged condition of the national highway.
SDPI state president Ilyas Mohammed Thumbe opined that the state government which is drowned in corruption is trying to snatch the rights of citizens instead of listening to their problems. SDPI district chief secretary Sahul S H said that the current protests are only symbolic. But he warned that all the like-minded organizations and the party will join in the eight Vidhan Sabha constituencies and protest by 'Rasta Roko' if the highway is not set right soon.
District secretary Iqbal Bellare speaking in the protests said that the government has no concern at all about ordinary people. “The national highway 75 is riddled with chaos for the last several years. The MP of the district has vowed to remain silent about it. Protests will be held blocking the highway if the potholes on the highway are not closed within the next 10 days,” he warned.
