Udupi, Oct 1: In a press release, Ansar Ahmed, district president, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Praveen Shetty faction) said, "Few years ago, state government started NARM buses for the convenience of citizens of Udupi. The public was happy with the service also. However, the district administration has stopped this service since some months. Though many organizations have appealed to the district administration to restart NARM bus service, it has not responded positively.
"The attitude of district administration has created frustration among the civilians of the district. Rumours are also rife that the district administration has stopped NARM buses owing to the pressure exerted by the private bus operators' lobby.
"Our organization, on behalf of the citizens of Udupi, humbly requests the DC of Udupi district to restart the NARM bus facility, which used to give citizens of Udupi good service. If the district administration does not consider our appeal in a positive manner and fails to restart the NARM bus service by the end of October, then Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, along with like-minded organizations and protesters will hold an indefinite strike,” stated the press release.
