Mangaluru, Oct 3: The NSS unit of Milagres College, Hampankatta, here, celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and held a Swachh Bharath Abhiyan on October 2.
The theme of this programme was 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness'.
The principal, Fr Michael L Santhumayor invoked God's blessings which was followed by a floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhiji. Speaking on the occasion he highlighted that as citizens there is a need to understand the vitality of truth and service to mankind.
NSS programme officer, Denzil E Pinto enlightened about the role of NSS volunteers and the five values that they need to inculcate among themselves such as discipline, dedication, determination, service and sacrifice to society.
A Swachh Bharath Abhiyan connected to the theme was carried out by cleaning the campus. 20 volunteers took an active part in the programme.
