Kabul, Oct 7 (IANS): Atiqullah Abdulrahimzai, head of Laghman's provincial council, was wounded in an explosion in eastern Laghman province, local officials said.
The incident took place in Qarghaee district on Tuesday when his vehicle struck a roadside mine. Four of his security guards were also wounded, according to officials.
However, no group, including the Taliban, has claimed responsibility for the blast, Tolo news reported.
The blast occurred a day after the convoy of Rahmatullah Yarmal, Governor of Laghman, was targeted by a blast in the centre of the province.
Asadullah Dawlatzai, the Governor's spokesperson, said the blast on Monday occurred as the Governor was travelling between his guest house and his office.
The Governor was not harmed, said the spokesperson, but the Ministry of Interior confirmed that four of the governor's guards were killed along with four civilians, and that 38 civilians were wounded.
