Brahmavar, Oct 11: In a mishap that occurred on Sunday, October 11 at Brahmavar a bus rammed into an office after the driver lost the control of the bus due to certain technical snag.

Some passengers in the bus got injured in the incident. Since it was a Sunday, there was no one in the office due to which a major tragedy was averted.

The bus, which was parked at Brahmavar bus stand did not start. The staff of the bus and others then were engaged in pushing the bus. As there was a downward slope the bus caught speed and rammed straight into the taluk panchayat building. Although the driver was inside the bus, he was unable to apply the brakes due to some technical failure.

In this accident, the front portion of the building was damaged and the computers inside the office were also destroyed. There were around 10 passengers inside the bus when the catastrophe took place. Some of them are said to have suffered minor injuries.

The office generally has a huge rush of people for Aadhar amendment services. As it was Sunday, there was no one. Providence averted a potentially horrific tragedy.

Yes, very true these bust stands are really scary(not only brahmavar same as other bus stand like udupi)
built without planning also shops. People who are used to these kind of situations think its only a technical error could happen anytime. but person who is used to live with better safety facilities places always thinks there has to be a proper planning to avoid unforeseen circumstance which could be minimize the human loss

100% not technical failure* heavy commercial vehicles use pneumatic braking system, the moment engine starts air compressor refills the air tank & this takes time of about 2 mins. whatever the air was there earlier was used for parking brake, there was no air in system for brakes to work & buses/trucks don' have mechanical hand brakes. never jerk bus/truck in busy roads you might know whether enough air is there in cylinder, as air gauge meters also work on air pressure.

Looks like Ashok Leyland Viking. Buses use air brakes which use air pressure that is built using compressor into air tanks. When you push start, if the air pressure is less, brakes won't work.
