Panaji, Oct 12: After the centre gave a nod for the opening of theatres unde the provisions of Unlock 5.0, chief minister Pramod Sawant confirmed that the state would also permit reopening of theatres from October 15 , however, he clarified that casinos will not be open yet.
The union ministry, in it's guidelines of Unlock 5.0 had stated that cinemas, theatre and multiplexes would be permitted to open with 50 percent sitting capacity and standard operating procedures (SOP) will be issued.
However, the All Goa Theatres Owners Association (AGTOA) are worried that there are no new movies to screen. "Unless Maharastra and Delhi are open, there is no way movies will be released," AGTOA president and Mayem MLA Pravin Zantye said.
Zantye further said, "If one sees the SOP, releasing of movies is not even affordable for distributors. And unless distributors release new movies, people will not come to theatres. Also, in current situation I don't think anyone has the guts to go to theatres."
