Mangaluru, Oct 14: Team of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) officials, including mayor Diwakar raided the slaughterhouse under the limits of MCC as there were accusations that beef meat is being mixed with mutton.

The raid was conducted on the morning of Wednesday, October 14. The team checked the licences and bills of the slaughterhouse and stall owners. The concerned MCC officials were notified to keep a watch against the illegal slaughtering and selling of meat.

The owners of stalls and slaughterhouse were also instructed to have seal without fail on the meat that is being sold as well as to maintain the bill for the same.

The mayor also warned all the stalls not to indulge in any illegal selling of meat.

My experience with mixing of beef with mutton

    1. My cousin was running a bakery in Bandra. He was getting lot of orders for Mutton pattice, Mutton samosa, Mutton hot dog etc. He never mixed these two meats. Only used beef.

    2. My residence in Mumbai was behind a big hotel. There were different variety of items of mutton available in that hotel. Everyday I could see in the morning, a vehicle with meat coming. But, mutton was never supplied to that hotel.

    3. I used to order mutton curry and other items from Mangalore Shetty Bar and Restaurant and I was getting correctly mutton items. But, once, I got beef. I asked the manager, who is a Catholic about it. He told me, yes, they are having both. But for home use, he had instructed to give mutton curry only and inside the bar, since the customers have finished one or two pegs before main course, beef was served. He said there was no complaint from them since they are in high spirits. About my order, he said it was a mistake happened by the waiter while informing the order to the cook.

    4. I also heard that some caterers in Mangalore and Mumbai mix these two meats. About that I have no idea.

Mind blowing comment Santan sir. Our area also experienced the same thing. Hence, Even today we don't eat mutton. Few decades before we were getting mutton and beef delivered at our doorsteps on Sunday's and Wednesday's as we were unable to go to market. My parents were not eating beef hence every Sunday half kg mutton for us and my neighbor was regularly delivered on Sunday's.. Some one in the area got doubt and complained to one of the strong persons of my area. Based on that they came to know the adulterated meat. It was said Very small calves are served as mutton. Even in functions we never touch mutton curry. There are rumours of mixing up both the meats.... 😢

People in power are obsessed with cows, beef, Hindu and Muslim and nothing else.
If someone can eat mutton he can very well eat beef. What is the big difference?
If in BJP ruled Goa beef is perfectly legal and yummy why all this fuss over here???
Beef becomes illegal when they fail to get hafta due to some misunderstanding.

Why do people want to eat mutton with so much of concern ? Stop eating non-veg, turn vegetarians. What's stopping you ?

The shops are separate, Beef and Mutton don't sell in one shop. As such, who is mixing ? Mutton shop owner for sure ? Why ? Because mutton is so expensive, he can't buy it for sale then imagine how people will buy it for consumption ?

Why can't people rear goats as they do with hen/cocks that are required for household use ? There is a scheme to distribute Nati-Koli for industry, why not distribute goat kids ?

See my friend, mutton is Rs 680, pork is 250 and beef is 250. Why anybody will mix beef with pork ? However, no dog meat is available other than in Nagaland, Since in Kohima (Capital of Nagaland) dog meat is 400, people may mix it with other meats there.
