Bengaluru, Oct 14: The state high court (HC) has served notice to the vice chancellor and registrar of Mangalore University for failing to obey the directions issued by the court relating to renewing the academic affiliation to Sri Venkataramana Swamy College at Bantwal for the year 2019-20.
A civil contempt of court petition filed by college principal Dr Panduranga Nayak, came up for consideration before a division bench of the HC headed by Chief Justice A S Oka on Tuesday October 13. The bench which heard the arguments, ordered service of notices to Mangalore University vice chancellor Dr P S Yadapadihaya and registrar K Raju Mogaveera, seeking to file objections if any. Hearing was adjourned to November 13.
Advocate M Sudhakar Pai, arguing on behalf of the petitioner, said that the university has committed contempt of court by not obeying the order passed by the single judge bench of the high court on the issue of renewing the affiliation of the said college. He requested the high court to immediately undertake contempt of court action against the university and to instruct the concerned to comply with the order of the single judge bench.
