Udupi, Oct 15: Congress MLC B K Hariprasad said that there has not been differences of opinion in the party and alleged that there was no candidate for BJP in Shira and therefore they had taken those who had applied from the Congress party. "BJP has made Yediyurappa lay on 'Sharashayye' (a bed made of arrows). Chief minister B S Yediyurappa is like Bhishmacharya. He has the will power to even die only when he wishes to. Thus, he would step out from power when he wishes to which will be only once the election is over," Hariprasad said.
Hariprasad was speaking while addressing the media at a press meet organized by Udupi district Congress at Congress Bhavan here on Thursday, October 15. Responding to queries on Shira by-election he said, "There are a lot of discrepancies in voter's list and voting polls. Hence KPCC president has decided to appoint booth level agents to observe the loopholes. There are lots of mistakes committed in the voter's list which is possible only with the support of the local body and district administration. BJP is creating confusion among the public to divert the votes," he alleged.
"The Prime Minister has passed the Land Reform Bill with no majority. Passing the Bill unconstitutionally he has disrespected the Constitution and democracy. He is showing dictatorship in administration. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi started a signature campaign in favour of farmers, Oscar Fernandes launched this campaign in Dakshina Kannada. The same campaign will be held in Udupi also," he further said.
The BJP led government in September passed the Farmers Bill and three major ordinances.
The undivided Dakshina Kannada regions were affected by flood disaster. The government should give proper compensation to all the affected. But the BJP leaders do not have time to distribute relief funds to the needy people, fishermen, and farmers. Many people did not receive relief funds and I highly condemn it. The government should give compensation to those who lost property, house etc."
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi allotted crores of packages to Karnataka, but where is it? Where did the government spend?" Hariprasad questioned.
Most of the BJP leaders are washing their hands off responsibilities and blaming God when they are caught in trouble these days. They do not have any morality to administer the governance, he alleged.
"The acts, whichever passed by the government are favourable only to corporators or capitalists. It is taking us back history to even ancient year," he said.
He said that the party has been visiting all the assembly constituencies and the future of the nation lies in the hands of voters. "Bogus voter IDs are made to centralize the votes," he alleged.
Vinay Kumar Sorake, former district in charge minister; M A Gafoor, former general secretary, KPCC; Gopal Bhanadry, former MLA Byndoor; Mohan P V, Mangaluru Congress leader; Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, and district Congress president Bhaskar Rao Kediyur were present.
