Byndoor, Oct 16: When Byndoor police inspector was on night beet duty, the jeep belonging to Byndoor police circle inspector's office fell by its side when moving near Ottinene in Paduvari village in the taluk after midnight of Thursday October 15.
Byndoor police inspector Suresh Naik, and jeep driver Hemaraj, who were on night rounds, were injured in the accident in which the jeep fell by its side. Both stand admitted into a private hospital at Kundapur.
The jeep was moving towards Byndoor from Shirur when the jeep went out of the control of the driver near Ragavendra Swamy Math after which it got deposited into the drain on the other side of the road. Police circle inspector Suresh Naik, suffered injury to his leg while driver Hemaraj, suffered injuries to head, hand and leg. The jeep was badly mangled in the accident. Both the policemen were stuck inside the jeep and an operation which lasted for an hour was needed to bring them out. After a lot of efforts, the jeep was lifted with the help of a crane, after which both were admitted into a private hospital here at around 2.15 am on Friday.
Udupi additional superintendent of police Kumar Chandra, Kundapur circle inspector Gopikrishna, traffic police inspector Sudarshan and other staff visited the hospital to meet the injured policemen and wished them speedy recovery.
