Bengaluru, Oct 16: Bengaluru Nava Nirmana Party (BNP), a new political party with an exclusive focus on Bengaluru and BBMP, has unveiled a Citizen Portal with details of all the projects approved and undertaken by BBMP over the last 5 years.

Sanjay Mehrotra, Head of Analytics for BNP, said: “A total of 63,629 projects have been approved in the last 5 years with a total approved value of Rs 21,653 crore. Of these, only 28,150 projects have been executed or are under execution with a total value of Rs 10,018 crore. We have collected details of all these projects and are now putting it in the public domain.”

N A Srinivas Reddy, Governing Council Member of BNP and also a Ward Committee Member of Hagaduru Ward, said, “Citizens have been seeking transparency from the Corporators and political parties for a long time. Despite a lot of citizen pressure and despite ward committees having been constituted, the Corporators and all existing political parties refused to share any information about ward level projects.”

Lalithamba B V, Core Working Group Member of BNP, said, transparency is very much the starting point of good governance. The existing Corporators and political parties have been deliberately not sharing information about projects with citizens at the ward level for obvious reasons. This has facilitated and fostered rampant corruption, mismanagement and misappropriation of funds.

Arun Mahendran, Head of Technology for BNP, said, “The website https://bright.nammabnp.org/citizen-portal has the details of all the projects across wards and the provision for citizens to download and details of projects in their respective wards! Bengaluru Citizens can see all the projects by year, by ward and by type of project.”

Srikanth Narasimhan, General Secretary of BNP, said, It does not matter whether the corporators, BBMP and political parties want to share information in the public domain or not. BNP commits to ensuring that there is full transparency in all the projects for the future too. This will ensure that the citizens can be vigilant and make sure that the money allocated for the wards is spent on the right projects with full transparency. BNP makes a solemn promise to Bengaluru that we will endeavour to bring details of every project in the future also in the public domain so that our money cannot be misappropriated!”

BNP had earlier brought to light the 4G Scam which highlighted that almost half the projects were being given to a single contractor, KRIDL, without any tendering process.
