Bengaluru, Oct 19: The state has already faced miseries due to the deluge left behind by the untimely and abnormal rainfall received by several parts of Karnataka.

The meteorological department has predicted that for four days from October 20 onward, the state is likely to get heavy rainfall. It has issued yellow alert for Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Uttara Kannada districts on October 21. As intense rainfall along with thunder and lightning is expected for 48 hours from October 22, it has issued orange alert.

Because of the unprecedented rainfall that created a new record for the decade, most of the rivers in the state are flowing over the danger level and normal life has been thrown out of gear. As Maharashtra has released excess water through the rivers, many villages located on the riverbanks have been inundated. Now more villages are apprehensive about the threat of floods. Yellow alert has been sounded for Raichur and Yadagiri on October 20 and Koppal on October 21. Yellow alert has also been issued for two days from October 22 for Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri and Vijayapura districts. For Bidar and Kalaburagi, orange alert will be in force on October 22, the department said.

Kodagu and Chikkamagaluru districts in south interior Karnataka have been issued yellow alert for three days from October 21 and Shivamogga on October 21. In a number of districts, well spread out normal rainfall is expected, said director C S Patil.
