Canada: Manipal Alumni Association Celebrates Annual DayMedia Release
Canada, Apr 24: Manipal Alumni Association, Canada celebrated their third annual get together at Natraj Banquet hall in Mississauga here, recently. In all 125 alumni of Manipal University representing all the faculties attended the event with family and friends.
The event was kicked of by Dr Vikas Soota who delivered the welcome
speech and highlighted the activities planned for the evening. This was followed by delicious authentic South Indian snacks sponsored by Vijay Dante of Udupi Madras Café, Mississauga.
A riveting video and slide show which brought back fond memories of Manipal was presented by Nav Bubber of Scotiabank who is also a Manipal University Alumni, followed by a quiz competition. Live DJ music kept the crowd rocking and various games and activities ensured that the party didn’t end till well past midnight. Over a dozen prizes were awarded to participants, from movie tickets to gift hampers.
Renuk D’Souza spoke about the need for networking among the alumni and strongly recommended a mentoring programme be initiated to help and guide new immigrant alumni who arrive in Canada with little knowledge of the local landscape.
The main sponsor for the event was Scotiabank who in addition to providing monetary assistance, arranged decorations and gifts. Other sponsors included Jose Azavado of Fast signs, Vijay Dante of Udupi Madras Café and Satya Agarwal, a financial and investment consultant. Renuk D’Souza sponsored custom printed beverage glasses for each alumni which were a real hit.
Truly a great event, will request other Alumini's to join as well and good to see Medical, Dental, Engineering & a great bunch of Hotel Management(WGSHA) Alumini's too. Not to forget my Old, but Gold classmates from Manipal Junior College here in toronto after so many years.Thanks
