Mangalore: ‘Western 361-Degree’ Job Fair Concludes on a Successful Note

Mangalore, Apr 24: “The UPA-led union government in the country has planned to set up 50,000 technical training institutions to empower the human resource of the country and youth. Getting training through these institutions can make the country more powerful”, said Dr Oscar Fernandes, veteran Congress leader and former union minister, at the valedictory programme of the ‘Western 361-Degree’ job fair organized at TMA Pai Convention Hall in the city on Saturday April 24.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the youth in India are the future powers who need to excel in technical education.
“The advance in technology creates more opportunities for job aspirants in future, so the students who choose a technical field have a bright future”, said Dr Fernandes.
“The technological training institutions the central government plans to set up will help the experts of the future”, he added.
“The ‘Western-361 Degree’ job fair is ideal and organizers have achieved success by making the careers of several students better”, said Dr Fernandes.
Walter Stephen Mendes, president, Western Institute of Technology, said that the job fair was a great success where more than 18,000 students participated in the interviews and career guidance.
“More than 50 companies have offered more than 15,000 jobs and most were filled through direct interviews and spot selections”, he added.
Mayor Rajani Dugganna was the guest of honour at the programme. Blossom Fernandes, Tim Roberts, president, Safety Alliance in USA, were also present.
Dr Godfrey Mendes, chairman, Western Institute of Technology, proposed the vote of thanks. Flora Mendes conducted the programme.
