Bengaluru, Oct 20: Busy working schedules or holding responsible positions in the State Government in key positions has not come in the way of the two senior government officials pursuing higher education and being awarded the highest degrees from the University of Mysore, which just celebrated the Centenary Convocation this week.

Two top officials of the Karnataka government - IFS officer Manoj Rajan, Commissioner Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority and IAS officer Sanjeev Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer – have been conferred Doctorate of Letter (D. Litt) and Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph. D) by the prestigious University of Mysore during its 100th Convocation on Monday.

The University of Mysore Awarded D. Litt to Manoj Rajan for the thesis Agricultural Market Reforms in the Country and the Role of Technology.

Manoj Rajan’s study focuses on agricultural markets in the Country, various market regulations and other salient provisions of the Act.

Agricultural Marketing is confronted with several intricate problems severely affecting the economic conditions of the farming community in the country.

The study identifies critical areas of reforms in the Karnataka model and elaborates on the new market structure and changes seen in market behaviour post online markets. The paper offers recommendations on building a robust agricultural marketing system in the Country.

The university conferred doctorate on senior IAS officer Sanjeev Kumar for this thesis on ‘MGNREGA, Rights, Processes, and sustainable livelihood – A critical study in Karnataka.’’
