Kundapur, Oct 21: Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty, clarified that the women who were operating a tailoring centre at Vandse have not been driven away as claimed by opposition leaders. He said that the issue was discussed with the district health officer, and the women have been allowed to operate from the old building of the primary health centre that has been shifted from elsewhere

Addressing a press meet held on Tuesday October 20 evening at Chittoor, he said that a new Nada Kacheri has been sanctioned to the region but the Congress, as part of its hate politics, had ensured that a stay order was issued against it. "By this action, the Congress has denied a facility for which the people here are truly eligible. Even in the matter of tailoring centre, former MLA Gopal Poojary, has been playing politics, which does not behove of a matured politician. This political gimmick is aimed at reaping benefits in the coming gram panchayat election. But this time, even in Vandse area, BJP-supported candidates will rise to power," he predicted.

Shetty said that already a sum of Rs 1,350 crore has been sanctioned for development activities in Byndoor assembly constituency. He said that effort to implement all the projects including airport, are being made. He ridiculed Gopal Poojary for accusing him of having claimed bill for his treatment. "I had claimed bill for the treatment of my eyes, and all the MLAs have the facility of getting their treatment expenses reimbursed by the government. It is strange that Gopal Poojary, who was an MLA, does not know about it," he said. He said he is in possession of documents for all the complaints made by Poojary and that he is ready to furnish them whenever sought.

"Congress leader Vikas Hegde has said in the protest meeting that for the last 20 years, he has been visiting Vidhana Soudha and Vikasa Soudha and has been observing activities there closely. I was under the impression that he was a court lawyer. But now I realise that he is an agent for Vidhana Soudha and Vikasa Soudha. His name is Vikas (development), but his brain has not developed. Being unaware of the constituency, he has been speaking against the MLA here, which is ridiculous," said taluk panchayat member Umesh Shetty in a sharp reaction to the accusations made by Vikas Hegde against the MLA.

BJP Mandal unit president Deepak Kumar Shetty, zilla panchayat member Shankar Poojary Yadthare, Suresh Bawadi, taluk panchayat member Umesh Shetty Kalgadde, BJP Yuva Morcha district general secretary Sharat Uppunda, former zilla panchayat member H Manjayya Shetty, dignitaries Nagaraj and Prashant Poojary, were present.
