Mumbai: Tributes Pour in for Konkan Kogull Late Wilfy Rebimbus

Mumbai, Apr 25: The tributes were paid to Konkan legendary singer Wilfy Rebimbus, who recently passed away, by the well-wishers and music-buffs from across the metro, at Holy Family High School Hall, Andheri (East) here on Sunday April 25.
Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India secretary archbishop Dr Percival Fernandes of Mumbai diocese offered the Holy Mass for the repose of departed soul of the late Wilfy Rebimbus along with Fr Timothy Victor Pinto from Orissa and Sangeet Abhinay Academy director Fr Charles Vas at Holy Family Church here on Sunday.
Archbishop Percival Fernandes, in his tributes to Wilfy Rebimbus said that he has composed thought provoking songs for introspection on daily living based on human values, love for fellowmen and God.
Fr Charles Vas, in his homily said that Wilfy Rebimbus captivated the music-buffs with his numerous Wilfy Nites. He rejuvenated Konkani music scene with his distinct contributions, while his each song has a message to society.
Aldel Education Trust and metro-based Model Co-operative Bank chairman Albert W D’Souza presided over the public condolence meet at the Holy Family High School hall.
Albert D’Souza, in his last tributes to Wilfy Rebimbus, said that he had utilized his musical talents to innovate Konkani music at a time, when it was leveraging on Bollywood hit songs. His district contributions to Konkani music will ever remain in the minds of Konkans worldwide, as his old hits are still evoking strong emotions to reform the wayward living and get back the bliss in life.
Ivan Sequeira, a longtime associate of the late Wilfy Rebimbus, explained the mentoring of his veteran guru that made him a lead singer.
A large number of fans of Wilfy Rebimbus from all over the metro, including the metro based Falcon Offshore Services India Private Limited managing director Conald J Baptist, Anthony Tauro of Konkan Kalakar Mumbai, Federation of Maharashtra’s Canara Catholic Association founder Rons Bantwal, Lawrence R Crasto of St Peter’s Association (Barkur) Mumbai, Konkani Kalzam Sakinaka president Alex Monteiro, Christian United Movement of Karnataka (KUMOK) president Harry Sequeira Ferrar, Konkani musicians Wilfred Fernandes, Gerry Bondel, Richard Crasta, Shanthi Roy Kuppepadav, Divo Konkani Illustrated Weekly co-founder Suzanne L Coelho, Gladys J D’Silva, Philomena H Lobo, Tressy Richard Peris and Claude Monteiro Marol offered condolences for Wilfy’s sudden demise.
