Mangaluru, Oct 22: Member of National Commission for Women (NCW) Shyamala S Kunder said, "Whenever women approach police stations to file complaints, police should make them feel comfortable and give all kind of moral support to them."

Addressing the media here on Thursday October 22, she said, "Justice should be provided for women whenever there is any problem for them and justice should not be denied. Several women are victims of domestic violence and cybercrime. At the same time, if a woman gets moral support and get confidence, more number of women will come forward to file complaints. In this regard, I have discussed with the DGP (deputy general of police) who responded positively and assured to take up awareness campaigns for women’s safety.

"It has been two years and the harassment case at Mangaluru University has not been resolved yet. Show cause notice has not been issued yet to the accused. I have met the chancellor of the university and urged him to issue a show cause notice immediately. I have also urged to form internal complaint committee (ICC) in all colleges,” she said.

Shyamala said that ‘Sakhi’, a one stop centre for women has been started in all the districts of the state. “The centre has all the facilities such as providing legal assistance, counselling, medical treatment, police help and temporary stay facility for the women. Four districts including Udupi has its own building for ‘Sakhi’ one stop centre,” she said.

Sir Austin, you are so kind hearted, understanding, distributed posts without any ulterior motives or showing no interest of taking any posts in our cabinet... How can I take up this position, without you being a speaker in this cabinet? Bhandar sir is missing since two months...Till Bhandar sir, resumes the duty, Our Belman batru will be an additional CM, who will advise /instruct/guide/manage from DC. May I request you to take up the post of speaker?? Ah... Now, the cabinet is complete

Lan.... Sir, justice is needed for men too. But, here if a lady is weak, and lonely and going through harassment, that lady won't get justice anywhere in the police station or in the house... So, what she says is right in this male dominated era. Secondly, what you said here..i too thought the same.. your quote..."Quality of women selected to Women Commission is apparently very poor....some think this is a Saree Fashion period..." Zavyeth tu...

    Mr. Lan

"Quality of women selected to Women Commission is apparently very poor....some think this is a Saree Fashion period" What you wrote is 100% right. My neighbour who went to a Women Commission branch told me that the work there is lethargic. But she said Police in Mumbai were sympathetic and acted quickly. I feel that in a man dominated society, many women are really going through difficult situation and this lady's plea is genuine.

"Modiji appoint some women of Substance to Women's Commission please". What you wrote is right. But, he appointed a person who was BA once, who became B.Com Part 1 (External) in the next election, also who is a 6 day Yale University graduate as country's Top HRD post. I doubt, Modiji will bother to appoint some women of substance to this commission.
