Mangalore: Bisu Minadana, Programme Showcasing Tulu Culture Celebrated

Mangalore, Apr 26: The works of literature are the permanent asset towards knowledge and never lose their relevance. No technological innovations can occupy the place of books, said Dr Amritha Someshwar, veteran scholar releasing Tulu books at a programme, Bisu Minadana organized by Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy at the Town Hall on April 26.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that though there is a rise in the trend of introduction of scientific and technological innovations that are replacing books, there is no need to worry on publishing books for technical devices are not permanent assets, he added.
The knowledge from the books makes an intellectual man, he said adding that it is heartening to see that there is increase in the activity of publishing books though it is speculated that leadership has dropped. The release of more Tulu books will help in the development of the language, he observed.
The programme inaugurated by mayor Rajani Dugganna was organized as part of the Bisu celebrations as representation of Tuluva culture.
In all nine books on Tulu including poetry, edited books and stories were released, while song CD, Aa Neeli Banodu produced by the academy was also released.
Dr Padekallu Vishnu Bhat, Dr B Shivaram Shetty, Dr Nikethana, Sudhakar Rao Pejavar and Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli introduced the books. Dr Palthady Ramakrishna Achar, chairman of the academy and Damodara Nisarga, president of Tulukoota were also present.
Sessions on Tulu language studies and cultural programmes showcasing Tulu culture were also organized as part of the programme.
