Valpoi/Panaji, Oct 28: Around 100 girl students, parents and faculty members on Wednesday participated in a Breast Cancer Awareness webinar, which was organised by the Government Higher Secondary School, Valpoi to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The teachers, students and parents from various other government higher secondary schools also participated.
The webinar was held by Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan’s NSQF project, which has been providing skill training to the students of primary and higher secondary school.
Dr Shekhar Salkar, senior Onco-Surgeon of Manipal Hospitals, shared a detailed presentation on breast cancer causes, symptoms and cure.
With early detection, a key for a reduction in breast cancer, Dr Salkar explained the various methods including self-breast examination to know the early symptoms.
The presentation was followed by an intriguing Q&A session from the students, their parents and teachers.
The hour-long session started with an introduction by Leena Kalangutkar while Nikita Desai and Dr Gauresh Naik coordinated the event.
Nikita Desai welcomed the guests, moderated the event and presented the vote of thanks for being a part of the online event.
