Kundapur, Oct 28: “Sending women to the streets instead of providing security to them is condemnable. Our campaign will not stop until the MLA assures another place for a self-help centre. We will protest by fast until death in front of the office of the deputy commissioner if the self-reliant women do not get justice,” said former MLA K Gopala Poojary. He was addressing relay protests held in Nada condemning the illegal shifting of the self-help centre.
“Deemed forest problem is not solved in Byndoor, there is anxiety over the implementation of Kasturi Rangan report, nobody has obtained approval under Akrama Sakrama for the last two and a half years. Why are those not questioned in the legislative session? What happened to the assurances of the airport, medical college, Degree College and joining of rivers? The proposal for Saukoor irrigation project was submitted during the Kumaraswamy government. We will question your actions in the court,” he said.
Udupi district farmer’s association spokesperson Vikas Hegde also addressed the protesters.
Congress party’s Raju Poojary, Madan Kumar, S Prakashchandra Shetty, Shekhar Poojary, Pradeep Kumar Shetty, Jagadish Devadiga, Santhosh Shetty Baladi, Nada gram panchayat former vice president Arvind and others were present.
Panchayat Raj Okkoota president Udayakumar Shetty explained the background of the incident; Prabhu Kenedy Pereira welcomed and gave an introduction.
