Kolar, Oct 30: Here is a man whose devotion for Lord Ram has transcended the borders of religion. His religious principles have inspired many. This devotee of Lord Ram has been writing the 'Rama Mantra' to complete one crore repetitions and at the same time, is at the fag end of his life.

Pacha Saab (96), a retired Muslim teacher, is the devotee of Lord Ram who wants to complete one crore repetitions of Lord Ram's name and send the same to Sri Ram Mandir being built at Ayodhya. That happens to be his sole dream.

Pacha Saab was born in 1923 in Magondi village, Bangarpet taluk in the district in a poor Muslim family. He studied up to 8th standard in Kannada and fourth standard in English language. He has been chanting the name of Lord Ram, a god in Hindu a devout Hindu believes in, since long. After his retirement, he has been writing the name of Lord Ram repeatedly by spending his own pension.

When he was still in service, he had visited the Lord Ram temple at Bhadrachalam. He saw a Sadhu writing the name of Lord Ram there and questioned him. He reportedly told Pacha Saab that writing it proves to be auspicious for everyone. That was 22 years ago, and the retired teacher has been repeatedly writing the Lord's name since then. He writes the Lord's name in books, different leaves etc and has completed one crore repetitions. As on October 15, he completed crore repetitions. He wants to deliver what he has written to Ram temple at either Bhadrachalam or Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

He says that his main aim is to preach religious harmony and wants to build a temple dedicated to Ramanjaneya. He reveals that he is healthy and is not bothered by old age diseases like blood pressure, diabetes etc.

He says that after he began writing Ram's name, people have come to believe that what he says is sure to happen. He always wants to do good for the others. The locals are appreciative of his ideology.

We have all have inherited the cultural ethos from our ancestors, hence we cannot deny our roots, despite embracing other religious traditions... This may appears scandalous, in the present turbulent waters of hate and bigotry !!!

Islam is the religion of practices, but in his case he got it as inheritance. All our activity will have some or the other achievements, in his case he might think we reached his goal, but does it make any help to humanity?
