Bengaluru, Nov 2: Polling for Sira and Rajarajeshwari Nagar assembly constituencies is scheduled to be held on Tuesday November 3. Public campaigning ended on the evening of November 1, and party workers are busy wooing the voters and stymying the efforts of other parties to influence their respective vote banks.

In both the constituencies, top leaders of the BJPL, JD(S) and the Congress undertook campaigning in full force. In the meanwhile, there were rumours that the JD(S) and the BJP have entered into an understanding in the two constituencies but the leaders have denied them. It was said that in /rajarajeshwari Nagar, the JD(S) would indirectly extend support for the BJP candidate in return for the BJP supporting JD(S) candidate in Sira. There have also been allegations of money changing hands on a large scale in both the constituencies.

During the campaigning, H D Kumaraswamy and Deve Gowda were seen spewing venom at Siddaramaiah, angered by his remark that the JD(S) is inconsequential. Deve Gowda, who is hell bent on ensuring victory of his party candidate, Ammajamma, wife of the late Satyanarayana, former legislator of Sira, overlooked his advanced age and actively engaged himself in campaigning for her. He has camped at Madhugiri, located just outside Sira constituency to monitor the progress from close quarters. Non-voters are barred from remaining in the constituency today. BJP has fielded Dr Rajesh Gowda from Sira constituency while former minister, T B Jayachandra, is the Congress candidate.

On Sunday, during an election campaign, JD(S) candidate, Ammajamma, collapsed on the dais. Avdoctor on the spot checked and said that her blood pressure had plummeted. She was later taken to hospital. Deve Gowda said there was nothing to worry. Before that, Ammajamma spread out her Pallu, begging for votes from people from Sira.

Within the Congress, different leaders claimed that Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar will be the next chief minister of Karnataka.

In Sira constituency, BJP candidate, Miniratna, is plotted against Congress candidate, Kiusuma Hanumantharayappa, and JD(S) candidate, Krishnamurthy. This constituency witnessed a high voltage campaign with top leaders of all the three parties holding several meetings, as the Congress is determined to defeat Muniratna, who deserted the Congress after winning election on that party sybol.

Chief minister, Yediyurappa mostly kept himself away from campaigning, and he was seen in campaign meetings on the last two days.

Counting of votes and declaration of results for both the constituencies will be held on November 10.
