Mangaluru: A J Hospital conducts successful robotic colon cancer surgery on patient

Mangaluru, Nov 3: Coastal Karnataka’s first 4th generation robot was installed at A J Hospital & Research Centre, here and successful surgeries have been conducted routinely since a few months.

A J Hospital has surpassed one more milestone of successfully operating on a super obese female patient with colon cancer. This 118 kg woman with chronic kidney disease was diagnosed with colon cancer and declared high risk for surgery in view of her weight and kidney ailment. She was successfully operated by gastro-surgeons Dr Rohan Shetty and Dr Ashwin Alva, well supported by anaesthetist Dr Harish, gastroenterologist Dr Shivaprasad B, nephrologist Dr Raghavendra Nayak and cardiologist Dr Purushotham.

She had an excellent recovery and was discharged just seven days after the surgery. Robotic surgeries are the latest advances in medical care helping in precision surgeries, faster recovery and lesser morbidity.
