Dubai: Multi-talented Mangalorean Andria’s Modeling Dreams

Dubai, May 5: “I believe you create a style and it’s not the style that creates you,” says Andria Nandini D’Souza aka ‘Chulbuli Ria’, Radio Jockey of City 1016 FM, a well known radio in Dubai. A proud Mangalorean, who was born and brought up in Dubai, loves its global culture.
About the Multi-talented Girl
A radio jockey, she is also a model and TV presenter. Expressing about herself to Daijiworld, she says, “I walk the walk and talk and talk. Other than jabbering my heart out, I have springs in my feet and don't need a red bull to dance. Music itself gives me a high.”
Well, music being her passion naturally she was drawn towards radio. She says that radio is something she loves to do anytime. She also dabbles in modeling and TV, whenever she finds time. “TV is a place where people see and recognize me. I have done a programme called Chill Out Dubai for a Pakistani TV (style 360). So both radio and TV are my love,” she announces. She recalls excitedly few of her memorable firsts like going on air for the first time on City 1016, performing live in front of the people and seeing herself on TV.
Career in Modeling
As an assignment by the agency, Bareface Andria has done a promo which has been aired on Dubai TV and Sama Dubai TV. This apart, she has appeared in advertisement for Habib Ghee directed by Priyadarshan and also for Abu Dhabi sports tv to campaign for the upcoming football match with Barcelona assigned by the agency, Point Blank Productions. She has also done Kinan Property advertisement tvc, Dubai Expo 2010 tvc and DJ shadows video album in Dubai.
She had won Jebel Ali Assisi Konkani Community award at the fashion show organized as part of the Dabazo -3, ' organized by JAKC in November 2009. Recently on February 26 she appeared in an advertisement for Mirdiff City Centre and for Nestle Everyday tea whitener ad on March 13. She also just finished shooting for a short film, Airwaves, sound coffee and a second chance.
Mangalorean by Heart
30-year-old happily single Ria, who was born to Lawrence D’Souza and Valencia D’Souza hails from Kaup and has got a sibling Valine D’Souza, who is a physiotherapist. Having studied in Our Own English High School, Dubai, she went on to graduate from Narsee Monjee College in Mumbai. Extremely proud of her Mangalorean roots, Ria shares that her favourite food is Mangalorean fish curry and rice cooked by her mother despite all along being in Dubai.
Life View, Inspiration and Future Plans
I do what I love and I love what l do. I'm a child at heart who believes happiness lies in the simplest things in life, says Andria revealing her zest for life. I was an active participant in various activities since childhood and earned a name hyperactive child. I believe in living life to the fullest, she says.
Admiring all the women who have made a mark for themselves in the man’s world, she draws inspiration from them. My parents love, support and blessings provided me that needed encouragement. It is my firm belief that my mother’s prayers eased my path towards success, she asserts.
Being alone in Dubai past two years without the parents, my friends and elders from the Mangalorean community have been my pillar of strength. In the near future, I want to make it big as a radio jockey and then to head to TV, wherein my friends and family can view me and feel proud of me, adds Andria.
Ticket to Fame and Glamour
Pretty much an adventurous, fun loving and chirpy girl with an infectious smile, Ria as she is known among her friends, happened to win the model of the month through Splash last August. Now as a step further, she is contesting Splash Fashion Competition 'Model of the Year'. This will sure be her ticket to fame and glamour of international modeling. If she wins she will be featured in Lifestyle n Fashion Magazines in UAE.
