Bantwal, Nov 6: A case of deliberately ramming the car against the bike driven by Chenna Farooq alias Ummar Farooq by the accused Ibrahim Khalil and Hafeez alias Appi at Bogodi, Guddeyangadi, Panemangalore on Melkar-Mudipu road on October 23 and killing Farooq to death is being investigated in Bantwal town police station. Farooq was hacked to death by the accused with machetes after they chased him.

Both the accused Ibrahim Khalil and Hafeez had also assaulted police personnel when they were being placed under arrest at Rekhya, Beltangady on October 24. Evading the arrest, the duo had fled the scene Bantwal rural PSI Prasanna and accused Khalil had suffered injuries in the scuffle. A special team was then formed to arrest the two accused who had escaped after assaulting the police.

The investigation officials were successful in arresting Hafeez and Irshad, another accused in the case on November 5 after obtaining definite clues. The accused were later produced in the court which remanded them to judicial custody.

Accused Ibrahim Khaleel who was undergoing treatment at Wenlock Hospital was discharged by the doctors on November 6. The investigating officials arrested and produced him in the court. Ibrahim Khalil and Hafeez are the primary accused in the murder case. Meanwhile, Irshad had provided the men with a vehicle and helped them abscond.

Further investigations in this case are underway.
