Bengaluru, Nov 7: Minister for primary and secondary education, S Suresh Kumar, has instructed the commissioner in the department to fix teaching hours in order to see that online classes do not interfere with the health of the students. He noted that in spite of the framing of guidelines, some educational institutions have been conducting classes at odd hours during day and night.

Speaking at a meeting on the implementation of instructions on online education held at the office of the integrated education department, the minister said that none of the schools should be allowed to conduct online classes at will. He said that classes should be conducted only as per the time schedule provided by the expert committee. He accordingly asked the commissioner to fix online school timing through a circular with directions to follow instructions strictly.

He noted that there are chances of parents coming up with complaints. He wanted steps to be taken at the taluk, cluster and block levels to keep an eye on school timings. At the same time, if any parents or public have complaints about the online education implementation, they can call the public helpline, 18004257302, he stated. On the other hand they can also complain on WhatsApp at 9483045130. He wanted nodal officers to be appointed in the office of the commissioner and in the district deputy director level. He noted that complaints are more in urban centres like Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, Belagavi, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Dharwad and some other places.

Mr. Suresh Kumar, Education minister, pls take action on institutions who are uploading you tube videos in the name of online classes which are without any interactions. There are also schools and colleges who are conducting name sake classes for upto 200-300 students in each session by one single faculty. Is that part of new NEP ?? Why are you turning blind eye for this ?

With the above tricks institutions are firing many teachers. Why are you giving not speaking anything about this which is happening right under your departments nose. When will you speak up on this.

The question is not about reopening schools n colleges, it is about conducting proper online classes with suitable infrastructure and without firing any faculty or teacher. If online teaching is the demand of the hour then be it so, make sure that the fee patents pay reached to teachers as salary. One this will help; n this pandemic situation...
