Senior BJP leader D H Shankaramurthy seeks Bharat Ratna for Advani

Bengaluru, Nov 9 (IANS): Karnataka's senior BJP leader D.H. Shankaramurthy urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bestow Bharat Ratna on party patriarch L.K. Advani, who celebrated his 92nd birthday in New Delhi on Sunday.

"As you are aware, Advani has been in public life for over 7 decades. His service, sacrifice and contribution to the country through the RSS, Bharatiya Janata Sangh and the BJP has been phenomenal," said Shankaramurthy, a former Legislative Council Chairman and minister in a letter to Modi recently, but released to media on Sunday to coincide with Advani's birthday.

"Impeccably clean and honest in his personal and public life, a leader with utmost credibility and a man with abundant knowledge and experience on national and international affairs, Advani is a rare phenomenon in public life," he added.

Asserting that his appeal was also on behalf of hundreds of party cadres from the state, Shanakaramurthy said it was his fortune to have been in close contact with Advani over the last five decades.

"I had the privilege of translating Advani's public speeches in Kannada and travelled with him across the state and country over the years," he added.

    Give Prestigius award like bharat ratns to Indian corporate heros like Ratan tata, Ajim premji ,Narayana murthy ,who contributed Indias economy and made India proud,, not like backstabers politicians .

    Yes, as Shankaramurthy says, Advani is impeccably clean in his personal and public life. However, that alone is no ground for granting him the Bharat Ratna. It is Advani who sowed the seeds of hatred in the minds of Indians and it is he who is responsible for the division of this country on the basis of religion. He has done a lot of disservice to this country and right from his Jan Sangh days, he has been in the forefront to sideline the minorities. No doubt, he is a much better and able administrator than Modi and he has also played a pivotal role in the elevation of the current PM. It was Advani who put his foot down and threatened to resign from the ministry when the late Atal Vajapayee was contemplating the sacking of Modi following his alleged role in the Gujarat riots. It is another matter that Modi backstabbed him when he became the PM but I am of the opinion that all this has been God's will. It is said that our deeds, whether good or bad, are rewarded or punished in this world itself and there is no better proof of this than the case of Advani, who should have been the PM of this country in place of Modi. But for Bharat Ratna, certainly Advani doesn't deserve it.

    Why cant BJP and their functionaries create their Award cell of their own, so they can handover any award to BJP leaders , their supporters . Prior to Rathyatra India was flourishing with peace in the country, no one was talking about religious discrimination, anywhere in the country every citizen lived peacefully, this Advani sowed hatred seeds among communities for his benefits , and this is followed by every BJP leaders in the country for the sake of power, in turn other political parties also followed their suit and this will continue for ever if common people doesn't understand Political leaders game plan of divide and rule.

    "Bharat Ratna" is not anybody's private property as proposed by somebody to give somebody. Dedicated Service to the nation is highly monitored. Shri L.K. Advani is not at all qualified (even though he is 92) for this Award as well as not near to that similar award.

    I N D I A N CITIZENS are not notified and fully convinced till today any valuable contribution from Advani and will not. Mostly those who tarnish & destroy communal harmony in this country are ignored by all and they will perish by themselves. Secondly, he is migrated from Sindh Province of PAK. Finally, Advani will not get any award from anybody. He is a normal citizen of this country, not contributed anything to our great I N D I A.

    Advani was the person responsible for the rise of BJP, he was the person to make Modi the CM of Gujarat, Advani was sidelined for the post of PM , similar to what Indira Gandhi did to Kamaraj.

    strong in what ? kindly explain. fyi we had lost many soldiers in borders ever, companies / factories are closed in large numbers, and a joker kind pm who made many foolish actions around the world, an uneducated pm, who suggest us to do claps to rid away corona. selling all the government premises to private. remove the bhakth glass and see the truth. i too was modi admirer but i realized i was fooling myself. anyway god bless you
