Udupi: Request to resume senior citizens helpline submitted to MLA

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (HB/EP)

Udupi, Nov 9: “The helpline for senior citizens which was functioning for the last several years has stopped as the staff stopped work after they were not paid salaries for the last 15 months. The staff grievance should be sorted out and the helpline should work as before,” stated Vishu Shetty in a request submitted to MLA Raghupathi Bhat.

“The helpline was providing shelter and justice to helpless, deserted, mentally disturbed senior citizens who were facing several problems. Several of their grievances were disposed of in the courts. It is heard that even books and items in the office are affected by financial issues.”

Vishu Shetty who expressed regret in this connection requested the MLA for quick action. The MLA who received the request promised to speak with the concerned officials and take action.
