Pre-wedding photo shoot turns tragic as couple drowns in Mysuru

Mysuru, Nov 10 (IANS): Craze for pre-wedding photo shoot turned tragic for both families when a coracle in which the couple was sitting capsized and the couple drowned in Cauvery river in Talakadu, Narsipura.

According to the police, the deceased couple has identified as Chandru, 28, and Shashikala, 20, both from Kyatamaranahalli in Tirumakudalu Narsipura, a quaint temple town on the outskirts of Mysuru.

The town derives its name from 'Tirumakudalu' or 'Sangama' which literally translates to confluence of three rivers - Cauvery, Kabini and Saptika (a mythical lake, which is known as Guptagamini).

The police said that the couple travelled along with family members and a photographer to Talakdu, which is the origin of river Cauvery and is just 16 km away from Tirumakudalu Narasipura for a pre-wedding photo shoot.

The couple was set to tie the knot on November 22.

The police further added that the couple desired to take a photo in a coracle in the famous 'Titanic' pose and in a sitting posture.

"While they were sitting, the water flow was relatively strong due to the recent rain, and as a result, the coracle rower failed to control and lost balance due to which the couple drowned," a police officer said and stated that it all happened in front of the couple's parents and relatives.

The police added that the coracle rower saved himself despite struggling to swim against the current.

The police took the help of fishermen and fire department personnel to fish out the bodies of the couple.

The Talakaadu police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.

We should not be making a joke of this situation as it is very sad that they have lost their life, however, come on man, how can you not make a joke of this? I mean seriously? We have heard of plenty of people who die because of selfies and now these two have died due to their pre wedding photoshoot which they wanted to take in the titanic pose. It totally sounds normal?
    RIP to their souls

People want to risk their lives even in times of crises by celebrating functions inviting large crowds without taking any precautions; all functions should have been banned till December end as a second fulminant wave is raging in most European countries!

Elderly & children should avoid crowded places in their own interest!

Titanic ki tarah yeh bhi doob gaye?
Maybe try using a little bit of common sense before jumping into situations. Just because others are doing it, doesn't mean you need to.

Sorry for the opening sentence as it is disrespectful, but when they did not respect themselves enough to not put their lives in risk, what can we say?

    Anyway, RIP to their souls.

Pre-wedding shoot happens mostly in more. More showoff happens in our weddings especially in Mangalore.Guests sould wait till 2 pm for the lunch.1 mangalorean catholic wedding one full day is gone. Night wedding dinner at 10pm. Nowadays new thing. Bride sings for the groom in the wedding function. people have to hear her singing with empty stomach. She can sing for him all her life after wedding. After wedding she will not sing because nobody looks her.

Souza Dubai,100% correct what you say.In catholic wedding ceremony lot of things have to be improved I find.I pity the wedded couple who has to stand all the time to hear the" singing" of MC.about who is where and what he works etc from family members. Is it necessary of family members workplace etc? Here is important people are wedded couple. They have to wait to eat something rest cold food till the end.Is it not pitiable? Now to the present tragic couple s death.Destiny cant be avoided .Their death is a hard blow to the family to see their children sink in front of their eyes in water and cant save them.May God give them strenght to bear their pain.may the souls of young souls rest in peace.

Photo session could have been on a location like park, hill station, riverbank etc.
Timings as such. No one can avoid destiny.

Same show off happens at Mangalore weddings too. Pre wedding photoshoots, wedding day photoshoot at the beach when the guests with empty stomachs are eagerly waiting for he couple to come, 'Oji'at roce where the Oji are carried in the front of audience and taken backstage and loaded to the tempo to he hired for next roce, hired dancers at weddings, Champagne for couple only and not for guests (which is considered insult in western countries) but who cares? Guests have to wait till the show is over!

This is a new filmy style trend now of having pre wedding photography proving nothing but extravagance and show off. All that benefits the photographer to mint money. There is entire life ahead for the couple to be spent together so what is the use of these pre wedding shoots. Now that both lives are lost all that is left is grief. What a tragic end.....may their souls rest in peace.
