Taking Muslims for granted led to Congress' loss: Leaders

New Delhi, Nov 11 (IANS): It was a strategic failure on the part of the Congress to have remained assured of the support from the Muslim community during the Bihar Assembly elections. As made evident by the results, the Congress' lack of work in the ground made it lose heavily, especially in the Seemanchal region, say party leaders.

The Congress Minority leaders were ignored in campaigning and micromanaging the elections in the Muslim dominated areas, a Congress leader said. In the whole state, it was presumed that the Muslims would vote for the Grand Alliance, but they were divided in Seemanchal where the AIMIM won five seats and led to the loss of seats for the alliance.

In Kishanganj, the Congress candidate could manage the win by a close margin of around 1,000 votes as the AIMIM got more than 41,000 votes.

While former Union Minister Shakil Ahmed Khan maintained, "In the last minutes, the administration gave the certificate to the NDA candidates and winners became losers".

He cited the case of two constituencies where the candidates were defeated after being declared winner.

But another leader Shakiluzaman Ansari said he had flagged the issue of the Muslim voters in meetings.

He said that he had categorically conveyed that the Muslims in their dominated areas should not be taken for granted in view of the AIMIM being in the fray.

"I was ignored and only Imran Pratapgarhi was campaigning. But to micro manage the elections, senior leaders of the state had to do a lot in the areas," said Ansari.

Neither the skills of former Union Minister Shakil Ahmed were used nor was Ansari given the importance. It was only Tariq Anwar and Imran Pratapgarhi, who campaigned and the result of all is that the Grand Alliance missed the bus with only 12 seats.

The opposition Mahagathbandhan ended up with 110 seats, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal winning 75 seats, the Congress 19 and the Communist Party of India-Marxist-Leninist (Liberation) winning 12. The Communist Party of India and the Communist Party of India-Marxist won two seats each.

Honestly, Musanghies and sanghies are the same as they vote in the name of religion and not development.

Name one country which has flourished by dividing its own people in the name of religion and introducing destructive economic policies.

The job of any political party is not to make voters based on the basis of religion. If Musanghies want to vote for AIMIM and Sanghies want to vote for BJP, then it is their loss because a nation will not progress as long as its people are divided.

If Indians want economic progress, equality and development then they can vote for Congress.

All the PSU's which are being sold to Adani today were built by Congress and not some AIMIM or BJP

We are used as vote bank by the Congress. Its high time to move over to DFI or SDPi like many others are doing. As it is there is no unity among the supporters and take us for granted. During the CAA protests it was very obvious. We were proved and asked to come on streets when one faction remained at home and turned into online tigers the next day. Ultimately we know who had to suffer. Why do we support such party.?

no muslim no hindu..congress loosing just because of High command hatred towards Modi. this family still not digested Modi win, not ready to accept him as PM. This hatred driving them to blunders after blundres. like identifying with anti social groups, denying Balakot, creating propaganda on Abhinandan/Covid, allying with any tom n dick like Shivsena (this will lead to AIMIM capturing core vote base). core voters are confused what Congress represents. day will come BJP will get more minority votes than Congress.

Now Hindus vote for BJP and Muslims vote for any Muslim party like AIMIM. Congress must dismantle itself and search for any other job for their leaders.

Congress leaders not agressive and try to convince the voters logic and data which will not work these days.
