Dharwad, Nov 12: Former minister Vinay Kulkarni, who has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the murder of a BJP zilla panchayat member, applied for bail in the district court here on Tuesday.
In the court, all applications and petitions are quarantined for a day in view of COVID fears. They are then sanitised before they go through registration formality.
In the meanwhile, Channakeshava Tingrikar, inspector of Dharwad satellite police station who was the investigation officer in the case, has filed an anticipatory bail application in the high court. The high court, after hearing arguments, gave a week's time to CBI to file objections, before adjourning the hearing.
In the meantime, speaking to the media after visiting the house of Vinay Kulkarni on Wednesday, Congress MLC, B K Hariprasad, said that Kulkarni was arrested by CBI because of a political conspiracy.
