Bengaluru, Nov 12: Heath and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar, who is also heading the Medical Education Department, said the State Government would take stern action against the owners of the Hosaguddadahalli factory which was gutted following reports of illegally stockpiling chemicals in the godown.
“We are awaiting the investigation report,’’ the minister said after inspecting the factory site where there was a fire incident on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media Dr Sudhakar said huge quantity of chemicals including sanitizers were being stored here in the godown without obtaining the permission. Alcohol related chemicals were also there.
“One needs to obtain permission from the Drugs Controller under Health Department to store sanitizer,’’ he said and asserted that action will be taken against the culprits.
“It is illegal too to sell these chemicals to other companies, we will initiate strict action, no matter how big the company is,’’ the Minister said.
Dr Sudhakar said action will also be initiated against the erring officials if found guilty.
Officials of State Pollution Control Board are instructed to shift such factories to safer places in the outskirts of the city away from residential areas. Some houses and other properties are damaged in this fire incident.
BBMP joint commissioner will submit a report regarding the quantum of damage, he said.
Compensation will be given to affected families after discussing with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, the minister added.
