Mangaluru: Thief steals vehicle in drunken state, rams into wall, arrested by police

Mangaluru, Nov 12: A thief who stole a pick-up vehicle from Kallapu, Thokkottu, NH66, was caught by the Suratkal police when he hit the vehicle against a compound wall of a house near Chelyar, Suratkal.

Tamil Nadu resident, Dakshinamurthy the alleged thief is the arrested person. He had stolen the said vehicle parked in front of New Super Bazar, near Kallapu, Thokkottu at midnight. After ramming into the compound wall, Dakshinamurthy went and hit a light pole before finally coming to a halt.

Local people on the scene informed the police who arrived and took Dakshinamurthy into custody. The accident had occurred as Dakshinamurthy was under the influence of alcohol.

Ullal police detained Dakshinamurthy to investigate whether or not he is involved in any other cases. The theft of the vehicle was also captured on CCTV. It is said that the vehicle stolen is quite old.

    It is a wonder with all his alcohol consume ,drove ,and twice rams into wall and still survived without any injuries.So many times we hear innocent people as pedastrians walking by the side die or get seriously injured. Hope he will get hard punishment.

    Mangalore became favourite hunting ground for thieves from all over... after some time thieves from Eastern europe, former ussr states also might come...

    No one bothered about the impact on local thieves(if any)....
