Bantwal, Nov 14: “Development work is not easy. The development in the entire Dakshina Kannada district including Bantwal by former minister B Ramanath Rai during his term as MLA is a model for the state. BJP which questions it should obtain training from him over how to conduct development,” said Dakshina Kannada district youth Congress chief secretary Ibrahim Nawaz.
Speaking in a news conference in Bantwal block Congress office on Saturday, he said that the achievements and development done by Ramanath Rai are known to people in the district. “He has conducted work worth Rs two thousand crore in Bantwal alone. What development has the current MLA done that can be seen?” He asked.
“Rai has distributed food kits worth Rs four crores among all groups of people during the Corona pandemic and rushed to their help. He has been defeated during the last elections by propaganda. His victory in the next elections is definite,” he said.
Personal criticism is not right:
“BJP leader Harikrishna's repeated individual criticism of former minister Ramanath Rai does not bring BJP leader repute. Let him criticize politically if he wants. We too will respond properly for it,” he said.
He alleged that police have not taken action over complaints lodged in various police stations against Harikrishna who alleged that Ramanath Rai is involved in murder. He urged that suitable action should be taken against Harikrishna and he should be arrested.
BJP leaders had lured two Congress party members on the previous day of municipal council president and vice president elections and exerted pressure to vote for BJP, alleged Bantwal youth congress president Prashanth Kulal adding that a complaint in this connection is lodged in Bantwal police station.
“Congress which has bagged 12 seats in the municipal council has not done any adjustment with SDPI. BJP is indulging in propaganda over it due to frustration,” he said.
Youth Congress’s Allwyn Prashanth, Suresh Poojary, Pavan, Vinay Kumar, Sudheendra Shetty Shafik, Ankush Shetty, Vishwajith, Ganesh Poojary and others were present.
