Bengaluru, Nov 17: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police, who had arrested former city mayor, Sampath Raj, for his role in the DJ Halli and K G Halli riots on August 11 this year, are likely to seek his custody for ten days. The officials have made elaborate preparations to place facts and materials before the court in support of their argument seeking his custody. The court needs to be convinced about Sampath Raj's role in the riots and his custody may be given only if the presentation is impressive.
Sampat Raj was brought to the CCB office on Tuesday November 17 morning. Yesterday, after his arrest from the house of a friend, the police had led him to an undisclosed destination. Initially, assistant commissioner of police, Venugopal will be in charge of investigation till joint commissioner of CCB Sandeep Patil arrives here and takes over. It is said that by afternoon, Sampath Raj may be produced in the court. They have to subject him to medical examination before that.
