Kundapur: One drowns in sea while taking bath, other swims to safety

Kundapur, Nov 23: In a tragic incident, a youth drowned while having bath in sea near M Kodi on Monday November 23. His friend who had accompanied him succeeded in swimming to safety.

The deceased has been identified as Manjunath (33), resident of Ramadurga, Belagavi. Both Manjunath and his friend were working as construction labourers.

As they did not have work, they had gone to the sea near M Kodi for bath. While Manjunath drowned in the ferocious sea waves, his friend rescued himself.

The body of the deceased was retrieved with the help of locals and later shifted to Kundapur hospital morgue.

Kundapur station police registered a case and conducted investigation.

    There are only two ways to deter swimming in the treacherous coastal Arabian sea.. (1) The state must put up hoardings, in prominent locations of the beach along with the names and photographs of the deceased person.. (2) Massive fines, along with jail terms must be levied on all violators, who dare to swim in these prohibited waters....
