Mangaluru, Nov 25: Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district Dr Rajendra K V issued instructions to degree colleges in the district to scrupulously follow thie standard operating procedure (SOP) drawn up by the government relating to coronavirus infection when holding academic classes.
He addressed a meeting of principals, assistant commissioners, tahsildars and health officers held at the office of the deputy commisisoner here on Tuesday, November 24.
"No student can be compelled to attend physical classes. Students attending offline classes have to get themselves tested for corona through RT-PCR tests and produce negatie report," he said. He said that for the final year degree and postgraduate students, offline and online classes shoud be held. For other students, online and if necessary, contact classes should be held, he added.
Joint director in the department of collegiate education Dr Appaji Gowda said that in the district, 754 students had attended colleges on the opening day, which formed 6.08 percent of the student strength. He said that last one week, the number of students attending colleges has gone up significantly.
Additional deputy commisisoner M J Roopa, assistant commissioner Mada Kumar, tahsildars Guruprasad and Manikyam, Dr Sharat of health deplartment, lead college principal Dr Rajashekhar Hebbar and college educaiton special offier Dr Sridhiar Maniyani were present.
