Kasargod, Nov 26: In a tragic accident that took place on Thursday evening, one person was killed and another was seriously injured. The mishap occurred after a scooter collided with an autorickshaw on the Uppal National Highway here.

The deceased has been identified as Kasargod resident Povval Masood (25) and the person who is critically injured has been identified as Bovikanam resident Unni Sunder (26). The latter has been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

The accident took place at Hanafi Bazar, Uppal at around 7 pm on Thursday, November 26. Masood, unfortunately, was killed in this accident after the autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction hit him while he was on his way from Uppal to Kasaragod.

Although both of the injured were rushed to a private hospital in Uppal, Masood succumbed to his injuries.

The traffic on the national highway was disrupted for more than half an hour after the accident.

The body of the deceased has been kept in the Mangalpady government hospital.
