BSNL recognises Karwar as part of Maharashtra state!

Daijiworld Media Network - Karwar (SP)

Karwar, Dec 1: It may be recalled that Kannadigas had angrily reacted to the demand of deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar, to include Karwar, Belagavi, Nippani and Karwar in Maharashtra. But, the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) seems to have taken the matter seriously and recognised Karwar as a part of Maharashtra.

BSNL mobile network consumers in Karwar town have been getting the message, 'Welcome to Maharashtra'. People are shocked to find that they have become part of Maharashtra without their knowledge.

On the night of November 27, BSNL consumers living in Karnataka Housing Board area of the city got the above message. Even people going to Devbagh, Majali and Sadashivagarh on Goa border get BSNL's 'Welcome to Maharasthra' message. The screenshot of one such message flashed on mobile in Karwar has become viral.

BSNL officials in Karwar expressed surprise at such a development. They said if they are informed of the specific areas where this is happening, they will check and do the needful.

This is good for Karwar and surrounding areas, they might see some development after years of neglect. The only people in Karanataka that benefit are the 2 major groups that control the balance of power, Lingayats and Gowda's. Over the years, these 2 have ruled the roost and if you don't belong to the heartland regions then you get ziltch.

How can Karwar be part of Maharashtra when there is Goa in between? Further the major language of Karwar is Konkani and not Marathi as supposed by Ajit Pawar. Right from the early 1970s politicians from Maharashtra had been raising the border issue to meet their selfish ends. The public should flatly ignore such useless issues. Ajit Pawar should better concentrate on holding together his MVA and learn from Raj Thackeray who once expressed his disinterest as long as the areas are in India.

As long as someone says welcome to so and so state and have a pleasant stay, there is nothing wrong. If there is a message you are not welcome it is a matter of concern.A good fast internet connection and a stable voice connection is more important.
