Naomi Campbell to Testify Over 'Blood Diamond' Gift

London, May 21 (IANS): Supermodel Naomi Campbell could be called to testify at a war crimes trial over claims that former Liberian president Charles Taylor gave her an uncut 'blood diamond'.

War crime prosecutors said there was evidence that the supermodel has accepted the jewel from Taylor, who is on trial for crimes against humanity, reports dailymail.co.uk.

However, Campbell, 39, denied the claims and insisted that she had not got any such jewel.

It is claimed that Taylor gave the supermodel the diamond during a trip to South Africa following a dinner hosted by Nelson Mandela.

Blood diamonds are those mined in rebel-held regions of Africa and sold to fund warfare.
